This video was used to show the payoff of the hoisting equipment using the band brake by comparison the payoff in this application is similar to being driven by an AC induction Motor. Effectively increasing Rate of Penetration and creating a smoother well bore. I had the pleasure of having a great team work this from Concept to Commercialization.

Previous Actuation for a Mechanical Autodriller on a Drilling rig. The handle is actuating a Mechanical Lever attached to a Band Brake. The Previous industry standard utilised a Bang Bang Control loop to open and close the band brakes. This created several different challenges during drilling operation.
